In the first part of this series, the Nokia E71 I am the hardware discussed. This part has been focusing on the software.
Barcode Scanner
A nice gadget to use the camera was installed at the factory: A bar code scanner. This can be read as the QR codes, which visitors can now find on billboards. However, this remains cumbersome and added value is not real. Therefore gimmick.
Calendar and notes
What I like about the new view of the calendar. The shows now next to the month view, a second column with the details of the selected day.
However, there is still no way the birthdays of contacts directly in the calendar to display, without a cumbersome external software (eg Bestbirthday ) must be created. Incomprehensible.
But at least the input of an appointment has been optimized, so that one finds now a compact input form, instead of the previously existing chaotic dialogue in which you had to scroll down several times.
The notes in turn suffer a bit under the reduced display: The amount shown signs of a note has shrunk. You can follow my tests, but to remain any length.
Standby screen
It had minor changes on the standby screen. First, there are now two modes, so that the standby screen can show differently depending on the situation. At the beginning I used the still. Meanwhile, I am but departed as the exchange took inordinately long.
Second, you can now tap directly on the standby screen the name you want to call and then receives a selection of possible matches. Very handy!
Navigation
To my chagrin Tomtom can not deal with the internal GPS module of the E71. The latter does work perfectly with Google Maps, but it makes no real fun to navigate. Also a tool with which one the internal GPS module as an external Bluetooth receiver can pretend the Tomtom (GPSD), work for me, so I McGuider 've seen and where I stayed.
The route calculation takes the McGuider although somewhat longer, the new calculation is different if one of a range wants to return a long for the old route rather than an alternative to compute, but otherwise I was still McGuider been brought to their destination.
As described in the first part of the GPS works fine in itself, if just the A-GPS enabled a first Satellitenlock many times accelerated. enabled> Com port separately - A-GPS has also McGuider under Settings -> GPS.
Mobile Web
Since the internal browser is basically unusable (slow, horrible HTML rendering, etc.) you should direct the Opera Mini install. In addition, there Profi Mail as a replacement for the internal e-mail application also does not really fun as opposed to professional mail. From last, there is also a 30 day trial.
Known to twitter, I now and then. Mobil makes it even more fun times. I can recommend either Twibble (free) and Gravity (cost). Matter of taste which you prefer.
Synchronize
you can synchronize the E71 including via SyncML. For this I now use Horde (more on that soon), but still no SMS backup. In order to have more comfort to get good matching the recommended to swim . This can make the synchronization run automatically at specific intervals.
So much on the subject of software the E71. The next and last part of the series is about matching accessories for the E71 , a case from Krusell and a car mount of judges.

What I found so far and could therefore never have to ask here: Does the E71 upload from your browser? So, for example, there could be http://imageshack.us/?no_multi=1 Upload what? Thanks in advance.
Did the upload at imageshack degree views with the internal browser attempts. On the "Browse" button, the browser has not reacted. With Opera Mini was, however, without problems.
Hope will help further that.
Certainly. Thank you!
Is it possible to repeat such as the dates. every 4 days, every first Tuesday of the month set ... (similar to Blackberry or Windows mobile)?
@ Michael: because the E71 I'm no longer in operation, you can say "I" only from memory and I mean it unregelmäßge dates were not possible. Sorry
