Next, please - Microsoft carries on

by Andi

How to tell white Golem agreement, the next Linux distributor Linspire signed an agreement with Microsoft, including a patent-complete. Particular, they concern about that Linspire can deliver in the future some audio codes, as well as fonts from Microsoft. I actually thought that you may pass on GPL software such as Pidgin / Gaim only in combination with other GPL software. But that probably applies to source code, not binaries.
However, as also expressed Toponce Aaron , I have a bad feeling especially with Linspire, which regards this partnership. Because recently it was just received this distributor of a partnership with Canonical / Ubuntu. And it is asked Aaron and Mark Shuttleworth directly

Are you going to make a similar patent protection garbage contract with Microsoft as well?

I do not hope so ...

I hope that it does not happen. If Canonical makes such a deal with Microsoft, then I want no part of the project. I enjoy my freedoms, and I expect my Linux distributer to respect them. The Linspire deal just hit too close for home.
